Summary

Khatam does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data. The app operates entirely offline on your device. No data ever leaves your device.

2. Data Collection

We do not collect any data.

Specifically, Khatam does NOT:

  • Collect personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Collect usage data or analytics
  • Track your location
  • Use cookies or similar tracking technologies
  • Require user accounts or registration
  • Make network requests of any kind
  • Send data to any server, first-party or third-party
  • Use advertising identifiers
  • Use any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or tracking frameworks

3. Data Storage

All data generated by your use of Khatam is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

  • Your reading plan configuration
  • Daily reading assignment progress
  • Bookmarks and personal notes
  • App preferences and settings

This data exists only on your device (and in your personal iCloud backup if you have enabled device backups through Apple). We have no access to this data.

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.

4. Third-Party Services

Khatam uses only Apple-provided frameworks:

  • SwiftUI — user interface
  • SwiftData — local data persistence
  • WidgetKit — home screen widget
  • StoreKit 2 — in-app purchases (processed by Apple)
  • UserNotifications — local notifications

When you make an in-app purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or process any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

No other third-party services, SDKs, or libraries are used.

5. In-App Purchases

Khatam offers an optional premium upgrade ("Khatam Premium - Lifetime") processed through Apple's App Store. We do not receive or store any payment details, billing information, or Apple ID information. Purchase records are managed by Apple and can be viewed in your Apple ID account settings.

6. Notifications

Khatam can send local notifications (daily reading reminders) if you grant permission. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to any server.

7. Children's Privacy

Khatam does not collect any data from any user, including children. The app contains no objectionable content, no social features, no user-generated content, and no external links. The app is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations by design: since no data is collected from any user, no data is collected from children.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a user located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of Access: You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you. We hold none.
  • Right to Rectification: You have the right to correct inaccurate personal data. Since we hold no data, there is nothing to correct.
  • Right to Erasure: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. We hold no data on any server.
  • Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a portable format. Since no data is collected or transmitted, this right is trivially satisfied.
  • Right to Restriction of Processing: We do not process any personal data.
  • Right to Object: We do not process any personal data for any purpose.

All of these rights are satisfied by design because Khatam does not collect, process, or store any personal data outside of your device.

Legal Basis for Processing: Not applicable. No personal data is processed.

Data Protection Officer: Not required, as no personal data is processed.

9. International Data Transfers

No data is transferred internationally or otherwise. All data remains on your device.

10. Data Security

Your reading data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, which benefits from the security features built into iOS, including device encryption and the iOS app sandbox. Since no data is transmitted over a network, there is no risk of data interception during transmission.

11. Quran Content

Khatam includes the complete Quran text bundled within the app. Sources: Arabic text from Tanzil (Uthmani script); translations by Saheeh International (English), Diyanet İşleri (Turkish), and Abu Rida Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rassoul (German). The content is bundled at build time — the app never downloads content.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this document. Since the app does not make network requests, updated policies will be available through the App Store listing, this page, or by contacting us directly.

13. App Store Privacy Label

In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, Khatam declares the following privacy nutrition label:
