Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Lemma, developed and published by OFO Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The App
Lemma is a morphological parser for Latin. You give it an inflected form and it tells you what the form is, which dictionary headword it belongs to, and the rule that produced it. It also includes a small library of Latin texts in which any word can be tapped and parsed in place. Everything ships inside the app and it makes no network requests.
Accuracy
Lemma derives its forms from the endings and the principal parts rather than storing a list, and its own test suite checks every generated form by parsing it back. Even so, no reference is free of error, editions and grammars disagree on details, and the app may be wrong. It is provided as it is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.
Lemma describes FORMS. It does not parse syntax, it does not translate, and it cannot tell you which of several possible readings a sentence requires. Where a form is ambiguous it shows every reading, and choosing between them is yours to do.
It is a study aid. Do not present its output as your own work where that would breach your school's or university's rules on academic honesty, and do not rely on it alone for work that is assessed.

The bundled texts
Every text included in Lemma is far out of copyright: Caesar died in 44 BC, Virgil in 19 BC, Cicero in 43 BC, and the Vulgate dates from around AD 405. Only the Latin is included, never a modern translation or a modern editor's apparatus, both of which remain in copyright.
Purchases
Lemma is free to download, and parsing words is free without limit. Lemma Pro is a single, one-time purchase that adds the reading library beyond the first work, the full paradigm tables, and the list of words you have looked up. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are governed by Apple's terms. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by OFO Labs. A purchase is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on any device signed in to it.
Your content and privacy
Lemma collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. What the app stores on your device is described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You may use Lemma for your own study and reference. You may not copy, extract or redistribute the app's dictionary or its generated forms as a dataset, resell it, or incorporate it into another product, and you may not attempt to reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it regardless of this term.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFO Labs is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Lemma. It is provided as it is and as available.
Changes
These terms may change. The current version is always published on this page with the date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
