Nodeline: Room Acoustics Published by OFO Labs

Last Updated: September 2026

Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Nodeline. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Nodeline, developed and published by OFO Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The App

Nodeline predicts the acoustics of a rectangular room from its dimensions and its surface materials. You type the room in, place two speakers and a listening position on a plan, and the app computes the room's standing waves, the pressure field of a chosen mode, the first reflection points, the predicted bass response at the listening position and the reverberation time. It uses no microphone and takes no measurement. It runs entirely on your device.

What We Promise About the Prediction, and What We Do Not

We think this belongs in the terms rather than only in the marketing.

Nodeline computes real physics. Mode frequencies come from Rayleigh's formula, mode shapes from the rigid walled solution of the wave equation, reflection points from the image source method, the bass response from a modal summation damped by the room's own reverberation time, and reverberation from the Sabine and Eyring formulas with published absorption coefficients. Every one of those is a standard result you can check against any acoustics textbook, and the app shows the numbers rather than a verdict, so that you can.

What it is not is a measurement. The model assumes a rectangular room with rigid walls, a point source and steady state. Your sofa, your bookcase, your bay window, your open doorway and the flex of a plasterboard wall are not inputs, and each of them changes a real room. An L shaped room has no closed form solution and is not supported at all. Above the Schroeder frequency, which the app displays, individual modes stop being the right way to think about the room and the prediction becomes a much weaker guide.

Read Nodeline for where the problems in your room ARE and for how they move when you move the furniture. Do not read it as a measurement of what your room does, and do not read a predicted reverberation time as a certified one. Nothing in the app is professional acoustic consultancy or an engineering certification, and we are not responsible for a purchase, an installation or a building decision you make after using it.

Not a Measuring Instrument

Nodeline is not a sound level meter, a real time analyser or a reverberation time meter, and it must not be used where such an instrument is required. It cannot be used for occupational noise assessment, for building acoustics compliance, for planning conditions, for environmental noise limits, or for any legal, regulatory or safety purpose. It never accesses your microphone.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Nodeline on devices you own or control, under Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. You may not decompile the app, extract its material data or resell it.

Purchases

Nodeline is free to download and performs the complete analysis of one room and one layout at no cost. Nodeline Pro is a single non-recurring in-app purchase that adds saved layouts and the side by side comparison of two response curves, the treatment plan, the full material library, more than one room, and image export. It is not a subscription, it does not auto-renew, and there is nothing to cancel. All purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms; refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

The Material Data

The sound absorption coefficients in the app are published measured values for common building materials, tabulated across the acoustics literature and in manufacturer data sheets. They are measurements of physical materials, and real materials vary: two plasterboard walls built differently absorb differently. Treat a coefficient as typical of its material rather than as true of your wall.

No Warranty

Nodeline is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. We do not warrant that the app is free of errors or that its predictions match any measurement of your room.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFO Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of Nodeline, including the cost of acoustic treatment, equipment or building work purchased or performed in reliance on it. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany.
