Privacy Policy for Overair

The short version
Overair collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. It makes no network requests. Everything it knows about television transmitters and the shape of the ground is inside the app when you download it.
What Overair stores, and where
Your location. If you tap the location button, Overair asks iOS for your coordinates once and uses them to work out which transmitters reach you. That calculation happens entirely on your iPhone. Your location is never sent anywhere, and Overair does not keep a history of the places you have looked at beyond the ones you deliberately save.
Saved locations. Places you save are stored on your iPhone only.
Your settings. Where you have chosen to mount an antenna, and the last place you looked at, are stored on your iPhone using the standard iOS preferences system.
Deleting the app removes all of it.
What Overair does not do
- It does not create an account or ask for an email address.
- It does not use analytics, crash reporting or advertising software.
- It does not track you across apps or websites, and does not ask for permission to, because it has nothing to track you with.
- It does not send your location, or anything else, to us or to anyone else.
- It does not contain any third-party software development kit.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app whether the purchase exists. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
Bundled data
Overair carries two public datasets, both works of the United States Government and in the public domain: elevation from the United States Geological Survey's 3D Elevation Program, and licensed television facility records from the Federal Communications Commission. These describe the landscape and transmitters, not people.
The propagation model is a port of the reference implementation published by the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences, an office of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. NTIA created that software and provides it as a public service. NTIA does not endorse Overair and makes no warranty about it.
Children
Overair is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, we do not expect it to change in substance.
