Privacy Policy for Stashly

OFO Labs ("we," "us," or "our") built Stashly as a local-first application. This Privacy Policy explains how Stashly handles information when you use our app. We designed Stashly so that your data stays on your device and under your control.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Stashly does not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

  • No account creation. Stashly does not require or offer user accounts, sign-ups, or sign-ins.
  • No analytics. We do not use any analytics frameworks, crash reporting tools, or usage tracking of any kind.
  • No advertising. Stashly contains no advertisements and no advertising SDKs.
  • No tracking. We do not track your activity, location, browsing behavior, or app usage. Stashly does not use device fingerprinting, cookies, or tracking pixels.
  • No third-party data sharing. We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any user data to third parties, because we do not have access to your data.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

All content you save in Stashly, including links, notes, images, categories, and tags, is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data resides in the app's sandboxed storage and in a shared App Group container (used to enable the Share Extension).

We do not have access to this data. It is not transmitted to any server operated by us or by any third party.

If you delete the Stashly app from your device, all locally stored data is permanently removed by the operating system.

3. Network Requests

Stashly is designed to function without an internet connection. However, the app may make limited network requests in the following circumstances:

  • Link previews. When you save a URL, Stashly uses Apple's LPMetadataProvider (part of the LinkPresentation framework) to fetch the webpage's title, description, and thumbnail image. This request is made directly from your device to the website whose link you saved. We do not proxy, log, or intercept these requests.
  • In-app purchases. Stashly uses Apple's StoreKit 2 framework to process subscriptions and one-time purchases. All purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information, Apple ID, or transaction details on any server. No other network requests are made by the app.

4. Third-Party Services

Stashly does not integrate any third-party SDKs, libraries, or services for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data processing. The only external frameworks used are provided by Apple as part of the iOS platform (LinkPresentation and StoreKit).

5. Permissions

Stashly may request the following device permissions:

  • Photo Library (optional). If you choose to save images or screenshots to Stashly, the app will request access to your photo library. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in the iOS Settings app. Selected photos are stored locally within the app's container and are not uploaded or transmitted.

Stashly does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, calendar, health data, or any other sensitive device capabilities.

6. Children's Privacy

Stashly does not collect personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Because no data is collected or transmitted, Stashly is suitable for users of all ages. The app carries a 4+ age rating on the App Store.

7. Your Rights Under the GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent legislation. Because Stashly does not collect, process, or store any personal data on our servers or any external systems, there is no personal data held by us that is subject to these rights.

For clarity:

  • Right of access: We hold no data about you.
  • Right to rectification: There is no data to correct.
  • Right to erasure: Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. We hold nothing to erase.
  • Right to data portability: Your data exists only on your device.
  • Right to object to processing: We do not process your data.

If you believe your rights have not been adequately addressed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

8. Your Rights Under the CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Because Stashly does not collect or sell personal information, the following applies:

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not collect personal information for commercial purposes.
  • We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
  • There are no categories of personal information collected in the preceding 12 months.

9. Data Retention

Stashly retains your saved content on your device for as long as you choose to keep it. You can delete individual items, categories, or tags at any time within the app. Uninstalling Stashly permanently removes all stored data from your device. We retain no data whatsoever, as we never receive it.

10. Data Security

Your data is protected by the security measures built into iOS, including the app sandbox, file-system encryption, and device passcode and biometric protections. Because your data never leaves your device, it is not exposed to the risks associated with network transmission or cloud storage.

We do not have the technical ability to access, decrypt, or recover your data.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
