Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Stinger, developed and published by OFO Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
License
OFO Labs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Stinger on any Apple device you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Stinger is a working tool and using it in the course of your trade is exactly what it is for.
What Stinger Does
Stinger computes starting-point machine settings for common welding processes from welding filler manufacturers' published parameter charts: amperage, voltage, wire feed speed, shielding gas and polarity for a chosen process, material and thickness. It also computes heat input, a preheat estimate from the carbon equivalent, and consumables figures from published engineering arithmetic, carries a small reference library, and stores the machines and settings you choose to save.
What Stinger Is Not
Stinger is a calculator. It is not a welding procedure specification, a qualification, or a substitute for training.
- Every number it produces is a starting point. Your machine, your material, your fit-up and your technique decide the final setting, and the app says so on every result.
- It does not qualify a procedure or a welder, and it does not certify that any weld is sound, safe or compliant with any code or standard.
- Where a welding procedure specification, a code or an engineer of record applies to your work, that requirement governs, not this app.
- It reproduces no code tables. The preheat screen computes general guidance from the public carbon equivalent formula and is deliberately not a reproduction of any code requirement.
Always verify a setting on scrap and against the filler maker's own datasheet before production work. You are the qualified person; Stinger is arithmetic.
Accuracy
Parameter values are interpolated between rows of freely published manufacturer charts and datasheets, and each screen names its source. Interpolation, rounding and the resolution of the published charts all introduce small differences, and machines differ from one another besides. OFO Labs makes no warranty that a result is exact, and no warranty that it is appropriate for any particular joint, material or machine.
Your Data
Stinger stores what you enter on your device and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. You are responsible for the records you keep in it and for noting anything you need before you delete the app. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
Purchases
Stinger is free to download and use for MIG and stick settings, the gauge table, the tungsten chart and the defects guide. Stinger Pro is a single non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks TIG and flux core settings, heat input, preheat, consumables, the extended reference library and saved setups. It is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and it does not expire.
Purchases are processed by Apple and governed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by OFO Labs.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFO Labs is not liable for any loss, damage, cost or injury arising from the use of Stinger or from reliance on any figure it produces, including damage to equipment or materials, defective work, or any commercial loss. Stinger is provided as is and without warranty of any kind.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top will change with them, and continuing to use the app means accepting the revised terms.
