Summary

Phonicle is a reading app for young children in Apple's Kids Category. It does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data, from children or from anyone else. It works fully offline, including in aeroplane mode. There is no account, no sign in, no advertising, no analytics, and no server of ours anywhere in the app.

2. Data Collection

We do not collect any data.

Phonicle has no account system, no sign in, no analytics, no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. It contains no third party software development kits. We operate no servers, so there is nowhere for information about a child to be sent.

3. Children's privacy

Phonicle is made for children aged about 3 to 6 and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and Apple's Kids Category rules. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app has no way to do so: a child never types a name, never records their voice, never takes a photo and never communicates with anyone. A reader is identified only by the animal picture chosen on the device.

4. What the app stores on the device

For each reader on the device (up to four): the animal picture they chose, which chapters they finished, which toys are in their worlds, how long they took to join each letter, which words they let go of before the letters met, and which words should be practised again. Plus two settings: slower speech and sound effects. All of it is stored locally in the app's own storage on the iPhone and is used only to choose the next chapter and to show the grown-ups report. It is included in your own encrypted device backups if you use them. We never receive a copy.

5. Speech

Every word and sound in Phonicle is spoken by the speech voice built into iOS, on the device. No audio is recorded, and nothing the child does is listened to.

6. Purchases

Phonicle is a paid app with no in-app purchases. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple on the App Store. We never see payment details, the Apple Account, or a name.

7. Links and the grown-ups check

The app contains one link out of the app: to this privacy policy, inside the grown-ups corner. The grown-ups corner is protected by a check designed for adults (typing a number written in words), so a young child cannot reach it. There are no other links, no social features, no chat and no advertising.

8. Deleting data

A reader can be reset or removed in the grown-ups corner. Deleting the app removes all of its data. Since nothing was ever sent to us, there is nothing to delete on our side.

9. Your rights

Because we hold no data about you or your child, there is nothing to access, correct, export or erase. If you have a question about this policy, email ofolabs@gmail.com and we will answer.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, any change will be a clarification rather than a new use of data.
