Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Stitchplot. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Stitchplot, developed and published by OFO Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The App

Stitchplot turns a photo into a cross stitch chart: a grid of squares, each one matched to a real thread colour and given a symbol, with stitch counts and skein estimates. It runs entirely on your device.

What We Promise About the Charts

Thread colours are matched perceptually, in CIELAB using the CIEDE2000 difference formula, rather than by comparing raw screen values. This matters most on skin tones and near-neutrals, where simpler matching swaps colours that are numerically close and visibly wrong.

Every colour in a chart is a real thread you can buy, and every thread in the list carries enough stitches to be worth buying. Colours that would have covered only a handful of squares are merged into their nearest neighbour, because a line on a shopping list that calls for seventeen scattered stitches costs you a skein and a trip for something nobody will see.

A chart is reproducible. The same photo with the same settings always produces the same chart, because people stitch these over weeks and buy thread against them.

Colours On Screen Are Approximate

Do not treat the colours shown in the app as an exact match for thread. Thread colour depends on dye lot, fibre and the light you are sitting in, and screens differ from each other. The codes are what to buy from; the colours are a preview. We recommend checking a shade card before buying for a piece that matters.

Your Photos and Your Charts

Your photos are read on your device and never uploaded. The charts you create are yours: keep them, print them, share them, stitch them, and sell what you stitch. We claim no rights over any chart you make or anything you make from it.

You are responsible for having the right to use the photos you convert. Turning someone else's photograph or artwork into a chart does not give you rights to it, and that is your responsibility rather than ours.

Your Work Lives Only on Your Device

Your charts and your progress stay on your iPhone. We never receive them.

That has a consequence worth understanding: if you delete the app or lose your device, your charts are gone, and we cannot recover them for you. We have no copy. Keep iPhone backups enabled, and export anything you would be upset to lose.

Purchases

Stitchplot is free to download. The free version makes real charts up to 60 stitches wide with up to 12 threads, keeps three of them, and shows the full thread list with symbols, counts and skein estimates.

Stitchplot Pro is an optional one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew. It raises charts to 400 stitches wide and 90 threads, unlocks export and printing, and removes the limit on how many charts you keep. Purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms; refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

Charts you have already made stay available whether or not you buy Pro.

Trademarks

Thread codes and names refer to widely published identifiers used across the craft to specify a colour. Stitchplot is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any thread manufacturer.

Acceptable Use

Use Stitchplot for your own work. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or redistribute the app, and do not use it in violation of any applicable law.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Stitchplot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error free, nor that a chart will match your expectations of the finished piece.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OFO Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of or inability to use Stitchplot. This includes the cost of materials bought against a chart.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always published on this page with its last updated date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
