Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Strobeframe, developed and published by OFO Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The App

Strobeframe turns a short video, or a burst of photos, into a single photograph in which the moving subject appears many times across one clean background. Everything is computed on your iPhone. It makes no network requests.

What we promise about the results, and what we do not

We think this belongs in the terms rather than only in the marketing.

Strobeframe lines your frames up, builds a background by taking the per pixel median across them, finds the subject in each frame as the part that differs from that background, and composites the copies back over it. Our test suite checks each of those stages against scenes whose correct answer is known exactly.

That is a method, and a method has conditions. It works when the subject moves against a background that stays put. It works less well, or not at all, when the subject barely moves, when it is the same colour as what is behind it, when the camera pans rather than shakes, or when the whole scene changes between frames. Trail mode does not depend on finding a subject at all and works on anything.

Strobeframe is a creative tool. It makes pictures, and pictures are a matter of taste. We do not promise that any particular clip will produce a result you like.

What you shoot is yours

Your clips and your photographs are yours. Strobeframe does not upload them, does not claim any licence over them, and has no way to see them: it contains no network code. You are responsible for having the right to photograph what you photograph, and for how you use what you make.

Strobeframe Pro

Strobeframe is free to download. Trail mode is complete and unrestricted, Freeze mode composites up to four copies, photographs save up to 1600 pixels on the long edge, and nothing you save carries a watermark at any tier.

Strobeframe Pro is a single payment that raises Freeze mode to twenty four copies, raises saved photographs to 3000 pixels on the long edge, and adds the build animation export, the spacing curves and the clean up brush. It is a one time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to cancel and nothing recurring.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of the App Store, not by us.

Intellectual property

The app, its source code, its design and its text are the property of OFO Labs. The sample clip bundled with the app was made by us. Photographs you create with the app are yours, and we claim nothing in them.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
