Lodefield is a deduction puzzle on a grid of dark rock. Numbered cells count the ore in their eight neighbours, and you clear stone and mark ore by lamplight until the seam is read. Two things separate it from every other sweeper on the store. The first is that no board ever needs a guess: each one is generated and then closed by a solver using deduction alone before it is allowed in, so a coin flip is never the right move. The second is that the board will show you its own reasoning. Tap Why and the clue cells that force the next move light up on the rock, an arrow runs into the cell they force, and the name of the rule that does the forcing is chalked beside it. Not a nudge and not a revealed square: the actual chain, named. There are nine rules and they are the whole language of the game, from Clear Around and Mark Around through the 1-2-1 Wall and Shared Edge to Closed Pocket and Final Tally, where you weigh whole regions of the board against the ore still unfound. The rule journal fills itself in the first time you meet each one, with a worked example you can read. Because the rules are ordered, a board's difficulty has an exact meaning: not its size, but how far down that list of nine it makes you go. Cinder boards close on the first two rules; Ironvein boards need the last two. Five seams from 6x6 to 14x14 hold 120 certified boards, and a fresh Daily Seam arrives every day with a streak. Mistakes are shown and rewindable rather than punished: no lives, no fail state, and the clock stays off unless you turn it on. Lodefield is bought once.
