A new mandala every morning, the same one for everyone, drawn by the app rather than picked from a library. That difference is the whole point. Colouring apps ship a fixed set of pictures, so the supply runs out and the download is large; Petalwise computes each pattern from the date, which means it never repeats and the app stays tiny. Tap a shape and the colour blooms outward around the ring, filling every mirrored copy at once, so the pattern stays symmetrical while you work and one tap does the work of twelve. The palettes are authored as harmonious sets rather than offered as a colour wheel, because a finished mandala can only look as good as the colours available, and a wheel mostly lets people make something muddy and then blame the app. Change palette at any point and the whole piece recolours instantly, so you can try an idea without losing the one you had. Finished pieces are kept in a gallery you can reopen, and sharing exports a clean square image with none of the interface in it. There is no account, no server, no advertising and no tracking, and it works in aeroplane mode.
